Clothes Frenzy
A short review of clothes shops and their value:
ICE - Sassy street style is a real winner with teens and tall pre-teens. However, too many black ruffles probably detract from their LBD's, and although I'm in love with their cross-over tops, this one scores a not bad 6/10.
COTTON ON - I'm so annoyed - Cotton On has clothes that are not made of cotton! That obviously detracts point, but they have nice scarves and comfy ( actually cotton ) t-shirts. All up, 5 points.
SUPRE - You knew we were going to get there...it's kind of hard to avoid as so many girls frock their way there every day. With its up-to-date, everyday fashion, it's a clear style extraordinaire. Of course, some things are a bit risque but the floaty tops, jeggings and jeans are really perfect for tweens. This all comes to an 8/10.
SPORTSGIRL - Sportsgirl has a friendly environment and all their staff are really nice. They have great accessories and their clothes are very cool, very 'out there'. Lucy, who is N-O-T a shopper has found some good clothes there, and their black dresses aren't all mini either. All this positive stuff can lead to only one thing - 9/10.
That's all the main brands I wanted to do but I just want to mention a few more and something about them.
JJ'S - their coloured jeans sure are cool.
TARGET - they definitely fling into spring!
K-MART - they won't give up on the advertising!
Happy shopping!
- Arwen.

Movie Magic
What with the release of three movies I really want to see, it looks like I'll be practically living at the movies. These three movies are...
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 - Out next week. Finally, finally...it feels like we've been waiting for years. Seriously, Harry in his prime, Peeves making up rhymes and Voldemort with his bad lines - why wouldn't you go and see this movie ? ( Oh yeah, 'cos you're seeing the next movie on my list! )
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - When Prince Caspian came out I went to see it for my birthday. I saw it twice in the cinemas and countless times on DVD. This time I'm planning on seeing VDT three times and buying it the minute it comes out on DVD. Why ? 'Cos this time it's going to be bigger, better and more brilliant than ever. ( So in short, think PC or LWAW but even better. Wow! Is that possible ? ) I don't want to ruin the story but Reepicheep and Prince Caspian come back for plenty more adventures. Out December 9 - I'm counting down.
The Hobbit - I purposely saved the best for last. Yes, I don't actually know when it's coming out, and it probably won't be these holidays, but now it's definitely underway and we know it's happening. I can't wait to see Sir Ian McKellen return as Gandalf but I heard that Ian Holm was going to be replaced!! I know he's maybe a bit too old now but for me he's the only actor who screams 'Bilbo' all over. On well, at least Ian McKellen is still in the top spot. Peter Jackson did justice on LOTR but can he do justice on The Hobbit ? I can almost taste the suspense. Maybe if we all really, really hope hard, it will be out in cinemas tomorrow! I'm hoping, I'm hoping!

Dance News
I love dance exams! They give you something to work for and to look forward to, and something to feel n-e-r-v-o-u-s about! If you do well then you feel great and even if it wasn’t your best exam ever, then it simply spurs you on to work even harder next year.
This year I did my Level 3 exam, which was Cool, Essence of. Before I went in I felt kinda freaked and I was also really, really hoping my bun didn’t fall out! When we went in I got a HUGE surprise! I recognized the examiner – she was the teacher for a homeschool class I take during the week. That was pretty awesome and my nerves subsided for a minute.
The three of us taking our exam definitely all danced our best and we were all really happy with our results.
If you have never taken an exam before then go for it! You’ll have a ball and, like me, probably feel sad when it’s all over. Good luck!

meet the guinea girls
hi !!!!!!!!! ,I am very sorry in the delay in posts , but, the truth is I have had chicken pox's! I got it the Sunday before last and I am still recovering but I am feeling looooooaaaaaaddddddssss better , in fact 2 days ago I danced with my dance school in the Burwood Spring Festival !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am planning to do a post on this tomorrow but today I decided to do a post I have wanted to do for a long time , I want you to meet the two cutest guinea pigs in the world -our special guinea girls! Their names are Peregrine (pippin for short ) from the Lord of the Rings , & Gweneveire (Gwenny for short) from the King Arthur legends, Pippy has lovely long dark fur and more often than not has food on her nose!, while Miss Gwenny has short fur and it's a rainbow of different colours ! They are amazingly cute and funny but ,BOY ,do they eat , if you put a log of Celery in front of their little noses then turn your back for 1 second , they will have chewed away until there is NOTHING left , a lot of people think guinea pigs are boring but I DISAGREE , they are the most perfect little pets & are hardly any work , I love our little guinea girls and I hope you enjoy these photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

acknowledging a genius !
ok ok , so I promised I would explain about baking the cookies in my next article but I realised that the few people who actually read my blog knew about it anyway and even if you don't you can just call me cos I am ALWAYS up for a chat, so anyway I decided to put a piece of short but to the point poetry on instead , cos , you know, poetry is nice , and this piece is a personal favourite , so, here you are.....................
THE BATH SONG, from the Fellowship of the Ring, by J RR Tolkien
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
that washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is a noble thing.
O! Sweet the sound of falling rain,
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water Cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed:
but better is Beer if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

a day on my plate
As I always read "a day on my plate" - that's in Sunday Life or whichever bit of of the newspaper it's in, I thought I should have a go at writing my own - I acknowledge Sunday Life for its really good idea!!!!!!!!!
(this food was actually from yesterday , not today ,but i couldn't really do today as we are not really through with it yet!!!) so here goes -
7.30: I was woke up by lively voices that didn't make any sense as it was way too tiring to be awake, let alone up and talking, so I lay in bed 4 a while then I sniffed out eggs and it all took off from there, I padded down 2 the kitchen and had a lovely fried egg that had a runny yolk and was on top of a piece of multi grain bread it was eggeriffic and delicious !
9.00 : after doing all my morning chores and what not I settled down 2 do math, and when I finished I ate a vita wheat cracker and a banana.
11.00: me and Lucy' s friend then came over to bake some choc chip bikkies 4 reasons that will become clear in my next blog ...so we baked, had a bit of a giggle then sampled the biscuits which were a success - all sweet , chewy and very very chocolaty !
1.00: all of us then went 2 another friend's house (again- will be explained in next blog )after having lunch of white bread rolls with tomato and ham that were brilliant, at our friends place we had a small slice of swirl cake.
6.00: after a long day we ate a bowl of yummy fried rice made with medium grain white rice and peas, chunks of egg and carrot ,needless 2 say it was VERY satisfying, then we rounded off with custard and peaches , yum YUM, (ENVY ME ALL YOU WANT NO COOKIES IN THE WORLD CAN RIVAL OURS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)THE END

tap tap tappity tap CRASH THUD akward silence
As I mentioned in 'my favourite things' my two fave sports are gymnastics and dance. I like classical ballet , and although I quit this year I also like jazz dance. Recently I've started another dance group in addition to my serious one just for fun and to see my friends. As the group rotates around classical, jazz and tap, it will mean that I'll be entering a whole new world - the world of tap dance!!!!!!!! Because I have never done tap before it was a little scary , but I figured I would pick it up ,hopefully . Any way I had my first encounter with tap this week , I just watched at first and tried to analyse it , it did look VERY HARD and VERY VERY FAST!!!!!!! Then I joined in , dont get me wrong it is sooooo fun but actually harder than I would have thought , I think that I picked up the choreography ok but the steps , ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! It sounds quite good ,when every one is tapping together in harmony . I was so tired by the end of the lesson , but I was pleased with how it had gone , and I'm sure that I'll pick it up !
P.S tap shoes are THE COOLEST!!!

running for the westing game
In the last 48 hours I have been busy whipping through one of the best (and only!) mystery books I've ever read - its name ? The Westing Game written by esteemed author Ellen Ruskin who has ,incidentally also written the Tattooed Potato and other Clues ,which sounds ... intriguing ,and judging by The Westing Game it would be. The Westing Game is so funny and spooky and thrilling that it kept me spell bound, literally , I mean I haven't had such a good read since I read the 3rd Skullduggery Pleasant. The Westing Game has also won the Newberry medal for most distinguished contribution to American literature for children , does that tell you anything ? !!!! , We got our copy from the op shop so run don't walk to your nearest op shop , if it's not open browse the net , do whatever it takes to get your hands on this delicious slice of entertainment featuring Turtle, Crow, Sandy ,J.J.Ford and S.Pulaski as they answer the clues and solve the riddle ,and (quoted from front flap) "there was a winner , but which one won ? " - I suggest that you find the next 2 hours finding out . Until next time peoples -Arwen

We Need That Fudge!
NO FAIL FUDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Recipe
Last Christmas when we were faced with the dilemma of buying a present for a good friend who's an avid reader but has read every book under the sun ( that he is interested in anyway !), we decided to organise a chocolate day for him, given that he is rather fond of chocolate as well. So, hence, the chocolate day was born. On the menu was : choc macaroons, choc cupcakes, choc ice cream and this supposedly no fail fudge that definitely did not fail - so the chocolate day was pretty successful ( except for the fact that we all had stomach aches !) So I have decided to put the recipe for the no fail fudge on my blog because it made the BEST FUDGE I'VE EVER HAD - seriously , try it .
This recipe is courtesy of William-Sonoma The kitchen library " Chocolate "
ingredients
1 & a half cups sugar
2 table spoons of unsalted butter
half a table spoon salt
half a cup evaporated milk
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
2 tsp vanila essence or extract
3/4 cup walnut pieces (optional)
Grease an 8" baking tin with butter or line with baking paper. Combine sugar, salt, butter and evaporated milk an a large suacepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until mixture comes to a boil. Lower the heat and continue to simmer for 5 min, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips, continuing to stir until chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth.
Stir in the vanilla and walnuts, if using. Pour into pan, cover and chill about 2hrs until firm. Cut into squares to serve. Store in an airtight container at room temp for about 1 week. Makes about 36 squares.

supre suprise !
For my 11th birthday I was promised a trip to Supre for the first time in my life , at the news I practically did cheer leader routines round the lounge room which probably would have resulted in the unfortunate death of a sofa , but then I ( fortunately for the sofa ) opened my next present which just happened to be official Tolkien illustrated encyclopedia , cool much ? So I stopped visualising myself holding a pair of jeggings and started flicking through the encyclopedia at top speed . Fast forward a month or so and I put my love of all things Tolkien aside just for the next 1 and a half hours precisely. Why? 'Cos we were off to Supre ! We were going to go to the Supre in Burwood Mall , and although I was hopping up and down with excitement we had to do a few things first. We had to : go to Howard's Storage world (boring), buy the new series of Merlin (not boring!) and then finally we went down the escalator past ICE and Greater Union until........Supre in all its glory! The great moment passed and we went inside. There was a lot of clothes and for a while I just looked a round until I came to the jeggings. I had pretty much decided to get a pair of jegging' s before we came to Supre so they were a must have. We looked some more, then I tried some things on. Some tops that I was trying on fit round the body but I may need to get a bit taller !!! Finally i made my buys - I had gotten a top, a long sleeved tee and of course my jeggings! I was thoroughly pleased with my buys and supre had definitely lived up to expectations . P.s As soon as I got home I started being a Tolkien freak again , Supre is all very well and good but my true loyalty lies with J.R.R. Tolkien.

full of glee
Thursday the 8th of July was a killer day to get through -why? Because that night a historic event was to take place - the finale of GLEE!!!! Having heard many tantalizing snippets about the last episode me and Lucy had to get through the day at dance camp until we got home . When it hit on eight o'clock we switched on the TV to watch the last half hour of Master Chef. After making rather snide comments about the contestants we were outraged to see that it went over time ( the record for going over time is 11 minutes omg ) but then , thank goodness, Glee started . At first we were a little confused as to what else was going to happen as the group got to and performed at regionals with in twenty minutes but all became clear soon enough . A series of rapid events then occurred i.e Quinn having her baby , Jesse gloating ,Jesse singing , Jesse gloating some more, Sue sorta turning nice , New Directions losing bla bla bla . i have to say that i was impressed by Glee club's sportsmanship especially Rachel's . Of course the episode was totally ruined by Sue turning nice but it can be out weighed by the promise of another series . AND THATS WHAT YOU MISSED ON GLEE!!!!!!!!

dance away!
Total excitement , I just found out that there is going to be another series of the ABC drama Dance Academy , they will probably start filming in January so we can expect it sometime next year. I love some of Kat's outfits and hope that we will be seeing her crazy fashion sense next series. By the way did you know that Jordan Rodrigues who plays Christian in Dance academy plays Jai in Home and Away ? I was a little surprised to hear that as I thought that most of the stars in Dance Academy were pretty new to show biz . I actually didn't mind Abigail , she was so deliciously nasty , Kat was my all time favourite and I liked Tara , she and Ethan make suuuuuch a cute couple . I don't like Christian or Sammy at all. I wish that it would come out on DVD but I don't think that that will happen which sucks , but they will probably repeat it while they're filming for series two, lets hope so other wise we will be stuck with out Dance Academy for ages ,my worst nightmare ! SCREAM!!!
